About

This is where I’m to tell you a little about myself so here goes:  I was born.  My husband and I were high school sweethearts and we’re still married – to each other even.  We were blessed with wonderful children that we are very proud of that unfortunately grew up much too quickly.  And that provides the fundamental family story.

I am the family Mom.  My most treasured title is that of Official Keeper of Mama’s Pictures.  Any pictures, regardless of event or subject of said photos, that does now or has ever resided for any span of time between the front door and back door of my home lies within the realm of Mama’s Pictures.  They are of utmost importance to Mom.  And that is kind of where the designation Photographer comes into the story.

I have always been a creative soul, much to the chagrin of my husband who has learned that there is a black hole for craft things that seems to find me no matter how hard he tries to hide me behind a misdirected Cloak of Enough Already.  When my children and budget were young I tried to make my own filters and special effects tools for my camera to try out on my unsuspecting and captive subjects.  The learning curve was a little longer then because the results were not immediately known since that was in the Precambrian era of real film cameras where it took days for the prints to be developed but I kept experimenting and captured some all-time favorite photos of my babies doing normal baby things.  Babies pretty much do just three things:  sleep, eat and …  I was asked many times why I had so many pictures of them sleeping.  Of those three main activities I felt that the sleep part was the more photogenic.  I was creative enough to be ahead of my time.  These days that genre of photography is called Newborn Photography where the idea is to ensure the newborn person is fast asleep to allow for moving and bending them into all manner of mostly unnatural poses that can be done only in the newborn phase of life.  I was an innovator and perfected the sleeping baby shots (in normal sleeping poses).  Today I have so many ideas that I would like to explore with creative photography made possible with digital techniques that I have expanded to offering to share my passion for exceptional portraits to other families.

With experience of years of photographing children and family and adding to the treasure trove of Mama’s Pictures I now extend my love of creative photography to other Moms and any other Keepers of Family Pictures. I made a truly devastating discovery in the process of compiling family photos for genealogy purposes – there are people missing from our family photo albums.  I know the people existed for I have pictures of them when they were young and I know they raised families for there are pictures too of their children.  Some of the most important people in my life are preserved only in my memories because they were no longer young enough to appear in photos when I knew them.  And, as the family photographer, proof of my own existence is pretty much linked to the pictures and portraits of my children.

I want your family photo album to be complete.  I want your family photo album and the hallways of your home to be filled with absolute proof of the best part of the family you love and are so proud of.  I want to work with you to ensure you have truly memorable and endearing portraits of every member of your family representing every chapter of your family’s story.  The children are young only for a short time.   Teens have their own ideas about life.  Parents put their children first without realizing the day will come when their children may actually appreciate that and would love to have portraits of their parents from those days too.  Grandparents are probably the best remembered by multiple generations but the least photographed.

Change is inevitable. We never know what tomorrow may bring.  Let’s take a little time and work together to create the image that captures the extraordinary of today for the sake of tomorrow.
